5 Tips for Getting Started in the Fitness Industry

This week is all about getting started in the fitness industry

Yesterday we chatted with Karl from PT Mentor UK and he shared with us how to find the right qualifications, getting qualified, insurance, documents & generating your first couple of clients

Today though, I want to cover 5 basic things you need to do to get started in the fitness industry

1️⃣ Consider the type of training you want to do – Do you want to do personal training, bootcamps, ladies only? Once you know this it will make your business set-up much easier moving forward

2️⃣ Choose your target market – if you’re brand new to the industry open it up and figure out what you enjoy the best. Ladies, Men, Over 30’s etc. Start finding what you can relate to – as when it comes to sales you have to be able to relate to your clients

3️⃣ Tell the world about your service – create that offer and tell everyone about it. You’ve got your target audience and now you need to head over to social media, head into local businesses, ask friends for referrals or even paid advertising. Get building that KLT!

4️⃣ Take the payment – there’s a number of ways you can do this. Cash is basic & simple but it isn’t always the best. We want to see if we can get them signed up so we can set up a direct debit. Paypal is great, instant and trustworthy but you do have to pay them a slightly bigger fee. There are also a number of other options, with Stripe & GoCardless being most popular.

5️⃣ Onboarding process – now we want to keep these clients. It’s our job in the initial 6 weeks to convince them it’s a good thing to stay long term. Think about all the additional support & accountability you can offer them to make them want to stay. It’s far easier to keep current clients then it is to keep finding new ones!

So those were 5 tips to getting started. Get this up & running and there’s no reason you can’t set up your own business right away!
